iStart Instructions
iStart is Georgia State’s web portal to immigration services, requests and benefits for our international student, scholar and employee community. iStart is a comprehensive international data management tool with many benefits. Georgia State implemented iStart in March 2015.
Departmental Users
To begin, navigate to istart.gsu.edu and log in using our Campus ID. When asked, please request an account as a "department". ISSS will email you the instructions to complete our Homebase Departmental Training.
Once the Homebase training is the first time, ISSS will authorize you as a departmental user. You may then request immigration documents in the system.
If your new scholar or employee does not yet have a panther number, you will need to request a provisional ID here. When you click on "Add a New Person" in iStart, you will need to fill out the Institutional ID and Network ID. Institutional ID=panther number and Network ID=campus ID. You will then use the issued ID and the new scholar/employee's birthday to begin a request.
International Employees and Researchers
To access e-Forms related to your J-1 or H-1B visa status, please login at istart.gsu.edu. Any e-Forms available to J-1 scholars are under the J-1 Scholar Services tab. In most cases, your department will have to request extensions.
For questions or problems using iStart, please contact ISSS at [email protected] or 404-413-2070.
