ATL Airport and Local Transportation
Please Be Aware: Georgia State does not arrange airport pick-up or provide transportation to campus. You should arrange your ground (local) transportation from the airport to your destination, in advance.
Atlanta Airport
- Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (airport code: ATL) is the only commercial airport in Atlanta. Be sure to book a connecting flight if you arrive at a different airport. Below is a 1-minute airport video.

Where is Georgia State?
- Georgia State’s main campus is about 10 miles (16 km) north of the airport in downtown Atlanta. To view an interactive campus map that highlights Georgia State buildings.

How Can I Reach Campus from the Airport Without a Car?
There are several options:
Train/Subway/Bus- MARTA - (least expensive, $2.50 one-way) means Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, which offers rail service from inside the airport terminal near domestic baggage claim to campus and much of Atlanta. The ride takes 25-30 minutes. Georgia State is served by 3 MARTA stations: Georgia State, Five Points and Peachtree Center. MARTA includes dozens of connecting bus lines. You can purchase discount MARTA cards (Breeze Cards) on campus. Below is a short video welcoming to the MARTA Airport Station.

Airport Shuttle - ($15-20 per person) shared small buses to Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead.
Taxis (most expensive, $30-40 one-way) door-to-door service. A 10% tip is expected. Taxis also accept credit cards.
Caution: Never accept an offer of a "taxi ride" from anyone inside or near the baggage area. These drivers are breaking the law, are not insured, and are possibly dangerous. Only use official taxi drivers at the taxi stand outside the airport.
Uber and Lyft are ridesharing companies offering services that include peer-to-peer ridesharing. They generally cost the same as a taxi (around $20-30 one-way), but riders can use a phone application to schedule their pickup and see the cost of the trip in the app. You can also choose between options to save on the cost of the trip.
Georgia Culture Connection offers a free service to new international students arriving at the Atlanta airport. More information about GCC pickup for Fall 2023 will be available soon.
